Description Recombinant Human Lipocalin 2 also called Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) belongs to a family of lipocans which include 25 proteins (including alpha1-microglobulin and beta-lactoglobulin), which are characterized by their ability to bind small lipophilic substances in their hydrophobic core. They thereby serve as transporters of substances like retinal, biliverdins & prostaglandins. There are indications that NGAL is involved in modulation of the inflammatory response and is found in the plasma of patients after stroke. Human neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and its mouse analog 24p3, are members of the lipocalin family of small secreted proteins. These proteins are up-regulated in a number of pathological conditions, including cancers, and may function as transporters of essential factors. Recombinant Human NGAL is expressed in E. coli having a molecular weight of 28.1kD fused to an amino terminal hexahistidine tag. Biological Activity: Not tested. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications have not been tested. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
