Description PTEN, a tumor suppressor, has been implicated in a large number of human tumors and is conserved from humans to worms. Characterization of PTEN protein showed that it is a phosphatase that acts on proteins and on 3-phosphorylated phosphoinositides, and can therefore modulate signal-transduction pathways that involve lipid second messengers. Recent results indicate that at least part of its role is to regulate the activity of the serine/threonine kinase AKT/PKB, and thus influence cell survival signaling. Recombinant PTEN shows a band at 86kD on SDS-PAGE commassie blue stained gel. Dimers and Aggregates: ≤ 1% as determined by coomassie blue SDS-PAGE gel analysis. Endotoxin: ≤ 0.1ng/ug (IEU/ug) of Human PTEN. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
