Description Human Ubc9 is homologous to ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s). However, instead of conjugating ubiquitin, it conjugates a ubiquitin homologue, small ubiquitin-like modifier 1 (SUMO-1). And hUbc9 retains striking structural and functional conservation with yeast Ubc9. The ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation system has been recognized as a complete enzymatic pathway that is responsible for the selective degradation of abnormal and short-lived proteins. The conjugation of ubiquitin requires the activities of ubiquitin-activating (E1) and –conjugating (E2) enzymes. Molecular Weight: 18kD (158 amino acids) Sequence: MSGIALSRLA/ QERKAWRKDH/ PFGFVAVPTK/ NPDGTMNLMN/ WECAIPGKKG/ TPWEGGLFKL/ RMLFKDDYPS/ SPPKCKFEPP/ LFHPNVYPSG/ TVCLSILEED/ KDWRPAITIK/ QILLGIQELL/ NEPNIQDPAQ/ AEAYTIYCQN/ RVEYEKRVRA/ QAKKFAPS Enzyme Activity: Not determined. This product is recommended for use in applications that do not require a catalytically active form of the protein. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
