Description Human Ubquitin Conjugating Enzyme 9 (Ubc9) is a member of the E2 family and is specific for the conjugation of SUMO to a variety of target proteins. SUMO conjugation to target proteins is mediated by a different, but analogous, pathway to ubiquitinylation. This E2 is unusual in that it interacts directly with protein substrates that are modified by sumolyation, and may play a role in substrate recognition. Ubc9 can mediate the conjugation of SUMO-1 to a variety of proteins including RanGAP1, IkBa, and PML without the requirement of an E3 ligase. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to 171aa from human Ubc9, contains 6x His-tag, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~19.5kD Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
