Description Ubiquitin-conjugating Enzyme E2Q Family Member 2 (UBE2Q2) is a 375 amino acid (aa) member of the Ubiquitin-conjugating (E2) enzyme family with a predicted molecular weight of ~43kD. Human UBE2Q2 shares 95% aa sequence identity with its mouse ortholog. UBE2Q2 contains an RWD domain, a coiled-coil domain, and an E2 catalytic core domain. The E2 cataylic core domain contains an active site cysteine residue that is required for the formation of a thioester bond with Ubiquitin. UBE2Q2 expression has been observed in both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. Expression of dominant-negative UBE2Q2 can cause a prolonged prophase arrest and UBE2Q2 overexpression inhibits cell proliferation, suggesting that UBE2Q2 may be involved in normal cell cycle progression. Elevated expression of UBE2Q2 has been reported in hypopharyngeal cancer, breast cancer, and acute lymphoblastic leukemia, suggesting that this enzyme may function as an oncogene. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to human UBE2Q2 Isoform 1, fused to 6-his tag at N-terminal. Molecular Weight: ~43.6kD Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
