Description | Streptavidin is a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 240kD and containg 4 subunits each with a binding site for biotin. The neutral isoelectric point of Streptavidin and the high affinity of the biotin-streptavidin interaction result in a very quick reaction with a high signal to noise ratio. Streptavidin does not react non-specifically with endogenous lectins when used in immunological assays on cells and tissues. Streptavidin is non- or very low charged around pH 7, reducing NSB to charged molecules to a very limited level. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunoblot (Western and Dot Blot), Immunohistochemistry and Immunoperoxidase Electron Microscopy. Other applications not tested. Recomended Dilution: ELISA: 1-2ug/ml Western Blot: 0.01-0.1ug/ml for Western blotting with ECL substrates 1-2ug/ml for Western blotting with chromogenic substrates Immunohistochemistry: 1-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Reconstitution and Storage: Store freeze-dried product at 2-8°C until reconstitution. When ready to use, reconstitute with 1 ml di water. Centrifuge product if the solution is not clear after reconstitution. To judge clarity, draw product into a clean pasteur pipette. Storing the product for more than one day at final working dilutions is not recommended. For extended storage as a liquid, add an equal volume of glycerol (ACS or better grade) for a final concentration of 50% followed by storage at -20°C. Please note that the concentration of protein and buffer salts will be one-half of the original after the addition of glycerol. Alternatively, the product may be aliquoted and frozen at -70°C or below, in the absence of glycerol. It is important to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Expiration Date: one year from date of reconstitution. Country of Origin: USA |
