| Description | The Streptavidin preparation contains an N- and C-terminal shortened variant (core streptavidin) with improved properties concerning homogeneity, solubility, resistance towards proteolytic degradation and accessibility of the biotin binding pocket as compared to native streptavidin. Streptavidin has a molecular weight of 55kD. Solubility: 0.1M sodium chloride gives a colorless, clear, complete solution Applications: Suitable for use in visualizing biotin conjugated molecules in ELISA, blotting and histological techniques. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Specific Activity: ~10U/mg, 1 unit bunds 1ug of biotin Proteolytic Activity: <10e-3U/mg protein (Azocoll, 25°C, 24 h, pH 8.0) Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
