Description Avidin, synthesized in the hen oviduct, is a glycoprotein of MW 68kD which occupies about 0.05% of the total protein content of the hen egg white. Native avidin is a tetrameric protein composed of four identical subunits. Each subunit is glycosylated at 17-Asparagine. Applications: Suitable for Western Blot, Dot Blot, ELISA, Immunoperoxidase Electron Microscopy and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:100,000 Western Blot: 1:2000-1:10,000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:1000-1:5000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol, ddH2O. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Sodium Azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
