Description | Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) NS5, aa2212-2313, genotype 1, Recombinant. Contains the HCV NS5 immunodominant region. Contains GST fusion partner. Immunoreactive with HCV positive sera. Hepatitis C Virus is a positive, single stranded RNA virus in the Flaviviridae family. The genome is approximately 10,000 nucleotides and encodes a single polyprotein of about 3,000aa. The polyprotein is processed by host cell and viral proteases into three major structural proteins and several non structural proteins necessary for viral replication. Several different genotypes of HCV with slightly different genomic sequences have since been identified that correlate with differences in response to treatment with interferon alpha. NS5A is a ~56kD pleiotropic protein with key roles in both viral RNA replication and modulation of the physiology of the host cell. It's exact role is not currently known (2008). NS5B (non-structural protein 5B) is an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase responsible for replication of the hepatitis C viral genome, and is currently a principal target for chemotherapeutic inhibition of HCV replication. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) can cause chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. At present there is no vaccine effective against HCV. Source: E. coli Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
