Description | Treponema pallidum is a gram-negative spirochaete bacterium and is considered to be metabolically crippled. There are at least four known subspecies: T. pallidum pallidum, T. pallidum pertenue, T. pallidum carateum and T. pallidum endemicum. The helical structure of T. pallidum pallidum allows it to move in a corkscrew motion through viscous mediums such as mucus. Treponema pallidum sub sp. pallidum has one of the smallest bacterial genomes at 1.14 million base pairs (Mb) and has limited metabolic capabilities, reflecting its adaptation through genome reduction to the rich environment of mammalian tissue. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to the T. Pallidum TmpA immunodominant regions, aa23-41 and aa288-325, expressed in E. coli. Specificity: Immunoreactive with sera of T. Pallidum infected individuals. Molecular Weight: ~68kD Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Dot Blot, and Lateral Flow Immunochromatographic Diagnostics test. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
