Description p17 is a 17kD major membrane lipoprotein of Treponema pallidum. The complete genome sequence of Treponema pallidum has been determined and shown to be 1,138,006 base pairs containing 1041 predicted coding sequences (open reading frames). Systems for DNA replication, transcription, translation, and repair are intact, but catabolic and biosynthetic activities are minimized. Treponema pallidum is a gram-negative spirochaete bacterium and there are at least four known subspecies. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to Treponema pallidum expressed in E. coli. Applications: Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
