Description | Typhoid fever is an acute systemic illness caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi. Typhoid fever remains a major public health concern, causing an estimated 22 million cases and 200,000 related deaths worldwide each year. Accurate diagnosis of Typhoid fever is challenging due to antigenic cross reactivity between related bacterial species, and as a result current tests have moderate diagnostic accuracies. The outer membrane proteins (OMPs) of Salmonella have been considered possible candidates for conferring protection against typhoid, in addition to being effective diagnostic candidates. The 50kD St50 protein used in the Typhidot ELISA, captures both IgG and IgM antibodies, and is used for the development of ELISA’s. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to Typhoid OMP expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~52kD Activity: Binds Typhoid antibodies Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
