Description | Campylobacter jejuni is the most commonly reported bacterial cause of foodborne infection in the United States. Adding to the human and economic costs are chronic sequelae associated with C. jejuni infection—Guillian-Barré syndrome and reactive arthritis. In addition, an increasing proportion of human infections caused by C. jejuni are resistant to antimicrobial therapy. Mishandling of raw poultry and consumption of undercooked poultry are the major risk factors for human campylobacteriosis. Efforts to prevent human illness are needed throughout each link in the food chain. Source: Campylobacter jejuni clinical strain obtained from coproculture. Applications: Suitable for use as control in Lateral Flow assay and as an immunogen. May be used to spike stool samples. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Inactivation: Binary Ethylenimine and Formaldehyde Inactivation. Confirmed by absence of colonies after 72 hours. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
