Description Artocarpus integrifolia lectin (Jacalin, AIA) is a glycoprotein composed of two subunits (10kD, 16kD) which bind to O-glycoside-linked oligosaccharides, binding both the mono- and di-sialylated forms. Applications: Suitable for use in purification of human serum IgA and other immunoglobulins. Primary affinity for terminal a-galactose residues and T-antigen which has a terminal b-galactose residue. It does not bind to b-galactose structures as found in lactose. Activity: < 0.5ug/ml will agglutinate neuraminidase treated human erythrocytes. Inhibitory Carbohydrate: a-galactose Carbohydrate Specificity: a-galactose Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
