| Description | TIMP1, also known as metalloproteinase inhibitor 1, is a member of the TIMP family. Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMP) family are natural inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), the zinc enzymes involved in extracellular matrix maintenance and remodeling. In addition to its inhibitory role against most of the known MMPs, the encoded protein is able to promote cell proliferation in a wide range of cell types, and may also have an anti-apoptotic function. It has been identified as a multifunctional molecule with divergent functions. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa25-205 from mouse TIMP1, fused to His-tag at C-terminal expressed in insect cell.
