Description SECTM1A (secreted and transmembrane 1A), is 192 amino acid (aa) protein that shares ~4551%, 81%, and 43% aa sequence identity with human SECTM1 (also called K12), rat SECTM1, and mouse SECTM1B/K12, respectively, and appears to share structural and functional characteristics with other SECTM1 proteins. Human SECTM1 can be found either found as an ~27kD intracellular type I transmembrane protein that shows a perinuclear, Golgilike staining pattern, or as a 20kD soluble, secreted form, and is produced by some myeloid cells and by thymic epithelia and fibroblasts (13). Stimulation with IFNgamma is often necessary to detect human SECTM1 expression, and it is thought to be an interferon early-response gene (15). Mouse SECTM1A cDNA encodes a signal sequence, an extracellular domain with four potential Nlinked glycosylation sites, a transmembrane sequence, and a very short (~6aa) cytoplasmic sequence (6). SECTM1 proteins from human and mouse show speciesspecific binding of CD7 and costimulation of T cells, including enhancement of CD3induced proliferation (24). Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa28-165 from mouse SECTM1A Fc Chimera, NS0-derived. Molecular Weight: ~55-66kD Endotoxin: <0.01EU/1ug (LAL method) Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute in sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
