Description			Contactin-6 is a member of the contactins, which mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Contactin-6 has a key role in the formation of glutamatergic, but not GABAergic, synapses during postnatal development of the hippocampal formation as well as the cerebellum. It is involved in oligodendrocytes generation by acting as a ligand of Notch1. It is also involved in motor coordination. Sequence: Human contactin-6 (aa1-999) is fused at the C-terminus to the Fc portion of human IgG, expressed in HEK 293 cells. Biological Activity: Induces Hes-1 in 3T3L-1 cells. Molecular Weight: ~150kD (SDS-PAGE) Endotoxin: <0.1EU/ug (LAL test; Lonza). Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
