Description Human NT-1/BCSF-3 (Neurotrophin-1/B-Cell Stimulating Factor-3) is identified as part of the IL-6 family of cytokines. It is most homologous to cardiotrophin-1 and ciliary neurotrophic factor. NT-1/BCSF-3 is a neurotrophic factor with B-cell stimulating capabilities. Expressed in lymph nodes and spleen, NT-1/BCSF-3 binds and activates glycoprotein 130 (gp130) and leukemia inhibitory factor receptor member beta (LIFR-b) and induces tyrosine phosphorylation of these receptors. In vitro, it supports survival of chick embryo motor and sympathetic neurons. In mice, NT-1/BCSF-3 includes serum amyloid A, causes body weight loss and B cell hyperplasia associated with increase in serum IgG and IgM. Recombinant human NT-1/BCSF-3 is a 22.4kD protein containing 199 amino acid residues. Reconstitution: Reconsitute with water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/ml. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile water and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Country of Origin: USA
