Description Neurotrophin-4 (NT-4) is an ~28kD neurotrophic factor and member of the cysteine knot family of growth factors, which signals via LNGFR and trkB receptors and is involved in the control, survival and differentiation of peripheral sensory sympathetic neurons. Bronchial eosinophils, activated by NT-4, may be involved in the regulation of eosinophilic inflammation in allergic asthma. NT-4 influences airway smooth muscle intracellular Ca2+ concentration which may play a role in airway disease. Expression of NT-4 occurs in embryonic and adult tissues. The highest levels are found in the prostate with lower levels in thymus, placenta, and skeletal muscle. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to human NT-4 expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~28kD Activity: Determined by the dose-dependent induction of choline acetyl transferase activity in rat basal forebrain primary septal cell cultures was found to be in the range of ~20-50ng/ml. Applications: Suitable for use in Functional Assays. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Endotoxin Level: <0.1ng/ug Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
