| Description | E. coli Single-Stranded DNA Binding Protein (SSB) consists of four identical 18.9kD subunits. It binds with high affinity in a cooperative manner to single-stranded DNA but does not bind well to double-stranded DNA. It is involved in DNA replication and in recombination in vivo. Spectral Ratio A280/A260: As Reported Binding Activity: ~5ug of SSB protein is required to prevent optical density change of 1ug of single-stranded DNA upon addition of 10mM MgCl2. Isoelectric Point: 6.0 Nucleotides Bound Per Monomer: 8-16 Thermostability: SSB retains activity after 20 min incubation at 65°C. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. | ||
