Description In cardiac tissue brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is synthesized as 134aa precursor (prepro-BNP), which is cleaved by proteases to form a 26aa "signal" peptide and a 108aa pro-BNP. Proteolytic digestion of pro-BNP results in formation of 76aa amino-terminal NT-proBNP and biologically active 32aa BNP hormone molecule. Both proBNP and NTproBNP circulate in human plasma and have been proposed as markers for early diagnosis of left ventricular dysfunction as well as prognostic markers of possible cardiac complications at patients with heart failure. Immunoreactivity is confirmed by reaction with monoclonal antibodies against different epitopes of NT-proBNP. Source: Recombinant human pro-Brain Natriuretic peptide, NT, expressed in E. coli. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and freeze at -70°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months.
