Description Control peptide for N1260-03, polyclonal antibody to Neuroligin 3. Neuroligins are Type I membrane proteins enriched in synaptic plasma membranes and clustered in synaptic clefts and postsynaptic densities. They have been characterized as neuronal cell surface proteins and are thought to be involved in cell-cell-interactions by forming intercellular junctions through binding to beta-neurexins. They play a major role in the formation or maintenance of synaptic junctions. They are also thought to be involved in the specification of excitatory synapses. Neuroligins interact with beta-neurexins and this interaction is involved in the formation of functional synapses. NLGN3 (rat: 848aa; mouse: 825aa; human 848aa, 94kD, chromosome Xq13) is mainly localized to glia and also to pancreas. Defects in NLGN3 has been linked to X- linked autism, and Asperger Syndrome. NLGN3 may play a role in the formation or maintenance of synaptic junctions and glia-glia or glia-neuron interactions in the developing peripheral nervous system. Source: Synthetic peptide corresponding to 17aa of human NLGN3 (Accession #Q9NZ94), C- terminal, extracellular. Molecular Weight: ~3kD Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Antibody Blocking. Not suitable for Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 5-10ug per 1ul of antiserum or 1ug of aff pure IgG. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
