| Description | Metabotropic glutamate receptors have been classified into three groups. In general, class I receptors (mGluR1 and mGluR5) mediate the excitation of neurons, whereas activation of class II (mGluR2 and mGluR3) and class III (mGluR4a, mGluR7a, mGluR7b and mGluR8) results in a depression of synaptic transmission. Class I mGluRs are localized in the postsynaptic membrane and are positively coupled to phospholipase C (PLC). Class II and class III mGluRs localized to the presynaptic membrane and are negatively coupled to adenylate cyclase. It has been speculated that mGluR2 and/or mGluR3 may play a role in the modulation of the mossy terminal function. Sequence (linear): H-Gly-Arg-Glu-Val-Val-Asp-Ser-Thr-Thr-Ser-Ser-Leu-OH Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute to nominal volume (see reconstitution instructions for peptides) and store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
