Description B-cell activating factor belonging to the TNF family receptor (BAFF-R), B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), and transmembrane activator and calcium modulator and cyclophilin ligand interactor (TACI) play critical functions in promoting B-cell survival by engaging the ligands a proliferation-inducing ligand (APRIL) and/or BAFF. TACI is predominantly expressed on peripheral blood B cells and interacts with the B cell activating factor (BAFF) of ligands and a proliferation inducing ligand (APRIL), which are expressed by numerous cell types, including dendritic cells, macrophages and neutrophils. TNFRSF13B, the gene, which encodes TACI is mutated in nearly 10% of patients with common variable immune deficiency (CVID), an antibody deficiency syndrome characterized by loss of memory B cells and plasma cells. Sequence: The extracellular domain of human TACI (aa2-118) is fused at the C-terminus to the Fc portion of human IgG1. Biological Activity: Inhibits BAFF and APRIL activity. Molecular Weight: ~45kD (SDS-PAGE) Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
