| Description | Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Receptor binds to EGF and other members of the EGF family such as TGF-alpha, amphiregulin, betacellulin, heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor, GP30 and vaccinia virus growth factor. 4 isoforms are produced by alternative splicing (reference SWISSPROT). The EGF receptor is a single-pass type I membrane protein containing an extracellular receptor domain, a transmembrane region and an intracellular domain with tyrosine kinase function. Source: Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-Fc Chimera, from human DNA sequence encoding the signal peptide and extracellular domain of human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor aa1-525 was fused to the Fc region of human IgG1 aa90-330. The chimeric protein was expressed in modified human 293 cells. Molecular Weight: ~85kD-110kD with post-translation modification and ~83kD unmodified. Biological Activity: The ED50 of the EGF receptor-Fc chimera is typically 60-100ng/ml as measured by its ability to neutralize EGF mediated proliferation of mouse NIH3T3 fribroblasts. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
