Description RELM-a belongs to a unique family of tissue-specific cytokines termed FIZZ (found in inflammatory zone) and RELM. The three known members of this family; Resistin, RELM-a and RELM-b are 85-94 amino acid secreted proteins sharing a conserved C-terminal domain characterized by 10 cysteine residues with a unique spacing motif of C-X11-C-X8-C-X-C-X3-C-X10-C-X-C-X-C-X9-C-C. RELM-a and Resistin are secreted exclusively by adipocytes while RELM-b is expressed in the epithelium of the colon and small bowel. The physiological role and molecular targets of RELM-a are still unknown. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to 88aa residues from mouse RELM-alpha, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~10kD Endotoxin: <0.1ng/ug Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
