Description SEPW1 is a selenoprotein, which contains a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at its active site. The selenocysteine is encoded by the uGA codon that normally signals translation termination. The 3' uTR of selenoprotein genes have a common stem-loop structure, the sec insertion sequence (SECIS), that is necessary for the recognition of uGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. This protein shows highest expression in skeletal muscle and heart, and may be involved in oxidation-reduction reactions. A retroprocessed pseudogene, SEPW1P, has been identified and mapped to chromosome 1p35-34. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-87 from human SEPW1, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, expressed in E.coli. Molecular Weight: ~11.8kD (110aa) Applications: Suitable for use in SDS-PAGE. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
