| Description | Myoglobin is a cytoplasmic, single chain polypeptide of 153aa. It contains a single heme group. Myoglobin is found in skeletal and cardiac muscle. It is not in smooth muscle. it functions as an oxygen transporting pigment. Upon damage to the muscle cell due to infarction of a coronary artery, neurological trauma, infection of tumor processes, myoglobin escapes to the environment and can be found in plasma using sensitive assays. Immunological Activity: Confirmed by reaction with monoclonal antibody that is specific for human myoglobin. Applications: Suitable for use as a reference or standard in immunoassay, immunogen for antisera production, labeling. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile dH2O and store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
