| Description | BMPs (bone morphogenetic proteins) belong to the TGF-b superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins. As implied by their name, BMPs promote and regulate bone development, growth, remodeling and repair, in both prenatal development and postnatal growth of eye, heart, kidney, skin, and other tissues. BMP-12 is highly conserved across species. BMP-12 regulates chondrogenesis, bone morphogenesis, and neuron differentiation. Recombinant human BMP-12 is a 27kD disulfide-linked homodimer containing two 122aa polypeptide chains. Source: Recombinant corresponding to human BMP-12. expressed in E.coli. Molecular Weight: ~27kD Biological Activity: The protein is biologically active as determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by ADTC5 mouse chondrogenic cells. The ED50 for this effect is typically 0.2–2.5ug/ml. Endotoxin: ~0.1ng/ug Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
