| Description | Sonic hedgehog (SHH) is a member of a small group of secreted proteins that are essential for development in both vertebrates and invertebrates. Three mammalian hedgehog genes (sonic, desert, Indian) share about 60% homology and all signal via the same receptors. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to human Sonic HedgeHog, a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 176aa, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~20kD (176aa) Applications: Suitable for use in SDS-PAGE. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Biological Activity: Determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by C3H/10T1/2 (CCL-226) cells. The expected ED50 for this effect is 0.8-1ug/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of >1x10e3IU/mg. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O, 0.1% BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
