| Description | Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) is an oxidoreductase that catalyzes the reaction between superoxide anions and hydrogen to yield molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The enzyme protects the cell against dangerous levels of superoxide. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to human Superoxide Dismutase, a homodimer, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 2x154aa, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~16.8kD Biological Activity: Superoxide Dismutase is fully biologically active when compared to standard. Activity tests were carried using SOD activity assay kit. The activity assay kit showed that the calculated activity was ~40,000U/mg. This was calculated from the amount (ug) required to inhibit the Xanthine Oxidase activity by 50%. Endotoxin: <0.1ng/ug Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. | ||
