| Description | Thioredoxin 2 also known as mitochondrial Thioredoxin in humans is encoded by the TXN2 gene. This nuclear gene encodes a mitochondrial member of the thioredoxin family, a group of small multifunctional redox-active proteins. The encoded protein may play important roles in the regulation of the mitochondrial membrane potential and in protection against oxidant-induced apoptosis. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa60-166 from human Thioredoxin 2, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~11kD (108aa, aa60-166), confirmed by MALDI-TOF Biological Activity: Specific activity is 3-4 A650/min/mg, obtained by measuring the increase of insulin precipitation in absorbance at 650nm resulting from the reduction of insulin.
