Description Thrombospondin-1 is believed to play a role in cell migration and proliferation, during embryogenesis and wound repair. Also, it has been used as a potential regulator of tumor growth and metastasis. TSP expression is highly regulated by different hormones and cytokines and is developmentally controlled. TSP stimulates the growth of vascular smooth muscle cells and human foreskin fibroblasts, a combination of IFN-gamma and TNF-alpha inhibits TSP production in these cells. Recombinant Human Thrombospondin is glycosylated with N-linked sugars and produced using baculovirus vectors in insect cells. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to human Thrombospondin, expressed in Baculovirus (Sf9 insect cells). Molecular Weight: ~180kD, in reducing gel Endotoxin: <0.1ng/ug Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
